| Hello! Only days ago, in a copper mine deep below dusty Butte, Montana, I was among ghosts and detonations, feeling the dance of human frailty and brute-force. In Winnipeg, I peered from an arena stage to the see the thousands of people singing together. I wept as I walked a new-mown hayfield because I choose constant travel, but I am from farming roots – I miss the soil. And I truly love traveling – I’m thankful to music every day for making me feel useful in the world – and showing it (and YOU) to me. This world that is violent and gentle in one – the world that does not pause, that rarely explains – but keeps asking us to find new ways. |

YOU are the cities on our CD release tour where VOCO will not be part of a university series, so for these I am getting the word out myself – and a little late 😉 whoops!SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st — special VERMONT SHOW (@ Tourterelle Inn, New Haven, VT) *I will perform this without my VOCO ladies, which means I’ll play my newest songs, play piano, banjo, accordion and tell some juicy stories.SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27 — special home-town LA show (@ CalTech’s Beckman Institute) *This is VOCO’s only LA show this year – I can’t believe it! So please come out – we have a beautiful show to share with you.SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 — San Francisco stunning (@Candlelight Concert Series) *Completely un-amplified, candle-lit, gorgeous. And…free in San Francisco. I’ve put together two VOCO quartets to release this album with me. Jody Redhage (cello, vocals) will join me in both (lucky me!), with Inga Swearingen (vocals), Laura Cortese (vocals, fiddle), Pilar Diaz (vocals, uke), and Sally Dworsky (vocals). We build a show that follows the path to laughter, out of tears – exile to belonging…as ever it’ll be lush four-part harmony singing, Eastern European polyphony, banjo-driven songwriting, and mischievous body percussion!
