Description: 4:00 – Inspired by Greta Thunberg and other young activists in 2019 who are trying to wake their fellow human beings up to the dangerous effect we are having on our planet and each other. To begin the piece, three young speakers remind us of another inspiring voice of reason from more than a generation ago. In a 1963 broadcast, scientist and writer, Rachel Carson said these ever more resonant words. The singers then bring us to the wild, open shore where a sailboat is embarking (like Greta Thunberg’s in 2019) with the future in mind. On that boat, we’re reminded that we must think ahead seven generations as we take action today.
